As a founding partner and the COO of 1ONEFirm, Inc., Clay is responsible for the strategic growth of the company and works directly with our clients and partnership teams to maintain project momentum and successful operations both internally and externally for One Firm. Clay serves as a dedicated leader to each phase of the commercial construction process and focuses on the creation of strong client interaction, successful project teams, field leadership direction and support for the company. Clay, alongside his partner Brian, each shares a vision for ONEFirm, which is to create a culture and a climate that seeks unique opportunities to form successful capital structures, designed for both land acquisitions and commercial developments, that allow for a design-build construction process all the way across the finish line for our partnership teams.
Clay joined his father, Buddy Spicer, at LCR Contractors, Inc., a family operated commercial subcontracting business that specialized in spray applied fireproofing and insulation operations in June 2006. During his more than 16 years with the company he served as a leader for nearly every position within the business starting as a field superintendent, then estimator, project manager, Vice President of Operations and eventually taking over as the company’s President/Chairman of the Board while leading LCR through multiple growth periods which included regional growth across Texas and other markets in the southeastern region, increased diversification in key product offerings for the core business, private equity partnerships and capital investments, and multiple growth initiatives through both organic funding and strategic acquisitions that allowed the business to grow substantially during his time with the company. Clay was born and raised in Garland, Texas, and graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 2001 and spent the next 5 years serving as an Infantry Officer in the United States Army. A graduate of Airborne School, Infantry Officer School and Ranger School in May 2002, Clay completed his service in the Army highly decorated and served with his fellow soldiers from the 1st Cavalry Division in Operation Iraqi Freedom II with Task Force Lancer, 2nd Battalion 5th Cavalry Regiment from March 2004 – March 2005. Clay and his wife of 20+ years, DeLayne Spicer, reside in Heath, Texas and have 4 children Ella, Henlee, Bradly, and Jack. Being around family, friends, cheerleading, weekends at the baseball and football fields, serving the local community alongside being active members at Lake Pointe Church is where to find the Spicer Family.
